Pediatrics

We are a national leading service in general pediatric emergency and hospital care. We have all the necessary technology and specialized personnel at the Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care Unit, liver, kidney, and bone marrow transplants to offer an adequate service for those cases in which care and treatment of complex diseases is required.
Our Hospital has received several awards and recognitions for quality and excellence, thanks to our high-quality service and excellent results with patients.
Neurology
Our pediatric neurology team evaluates patients with central nervous system diseases such as epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases, headache, and metabolic diseases, among others. In order to provide comprehensive care, we have a Metabolic Diseases Group and Patient Care with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Gastroenterology
Our pediatric gastroenterology team is responsible for treatment of digestive tract diseases as gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux, food allergies, cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, short intestine, intestinal failure, inflammatory bowel disease, among others. In addition, pediatric gastroenterologists are specialists who perform both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures endoscopically (upper digestive endoscopy, colonoscopy, and rectosigmoidoscopy). To provide comprehensive care, we have a Food Allergy and Cystic Fibrosis Clinic.
Pneumology
Our pediatric pneumology team is responsible for studying and treating all kind of lung diseases, including asthma, pneumonia, tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, among many others. Likewise, our team performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures through bronchoscopy. To provide comprehensive care we have an Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis Clinic.
Infectology
Our pediatric infectology team is in charge of studying and treating diseases caused by microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites).
Endocrinology
Our pediatric endocrinology team is in charge of evaluating hormonal diseases, for example, diabetes, obesity, thyroid alterations, adrenal glands diseases, pancreas diseases, among others. To provide comprehensive care we have the Diabetes Education and Support Group.
Genetics
Our pediatric genetics team studies hereditary diseases (transmitted by genes alteration), including genetic syndromes, metabolic diseases, also in some cases they may provide genetic counseling for these patients’ parents.
Hematology
Our pediatric hematology team studies and treats diseases related to blood components, such as different types of anemia, platelet defects, also patients with bleeding disorders such as hemophilia and leukocytes. They are also part of the group of specialists who perform bone marrow transplants.
Pediatric Liver Transplant
Our pediatric liver transplant team studies liver and bile duct diseases, such as bile duct atresia, cholestasis, liver failure, among others. We have the necessary resources to perform a liver transplant from a living or cadaveric donor, for those cases that require it.
Cardiology
Our pediatric cardiology team studies patients with heart conditions, such as congenital heart defects, arrhythmias, and performs echocardiography studies.
Psychiatry
Our child psychiatry team evaluates patients with disorders such as depression and anxiety. It is only offered as a hospital service.
Immunology
Our immunology team deals with diseases related to the immune system, such as immunodeficiencies.
Nephrology
Our pediatric nephrology team is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to kidneys and the urinary tract. Our pediatric nephrology service has all the necessary resources to perform a kidney transplant in pediatric patients.
Oncology
Our pediatric oncology team is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer in children.
Rheumatology
Our pediatric rheumatology team is in charge of autoimmune diseases such as Kawasaki, Juvenile idiopathic arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, and Vasculitis.
Pediatric Surgery
Our pediatric surgery team is responsible for the treatment of diseases that require surgical interventions in children such as appendicitis, peritonitis, biopsy or tumors removal, treatment of malformations of different organs (kidney, liver, gastrointestinal, etc.), among others.
Pediatric Orthopedics
Our pediatric orthopedics team takes care of bone diseases in children.
Allergology
Our pediatric allergology team is responsible to take care of diseases related to allergic-type reactions, whether caused by environmental agents, infectious agents, and/or medications.
Pediatric ophthalmology
Our pediatric ophthalmology team is responsible for the evaluation, treatment, and eye disease surgery.
General pediatric hospitalization
The general hospitalization service offers care to pediatric patients with pathologies that cannot be managed at home.
We use the modality of treating pediatric doctor during the hospital stay 24 hours a day.
Parents can accompany their children permanently.
Pediatric Emergency Room
The pediatric emergency service care for patients with acute and chronic pathologies that require immediate attention.
Some causes of consultation for pediatric emergencies:
- Fever.
- Increasing pain.
- Dyspnea.
- Seizures.
- Trauma.
- Diarrhea with dehydration.
- Persistent vomiting.
- Patients are initially assessed on admission by a triage nurse to classify and define the priority of every case.
All pediatric patients are evaluated by a pediatric doctor upon admission.
Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is dedicated to take care of patients with serious illnesses that require continuous monitoring.
Our PICU team is made of pediatric intensivist, respiratory therapist and nurses with training in comprehensive treatment for this kind of patient.
The Unit has technology and infrastructure that facilitates to provide treatments such as HFOV (high-frequency oscillatory ventilation), nitric oxide, oxyhelium, invasive and non-invasive conventional ventilation, high flow cannula, continuous hemodiafiltration, pacemaker, portable ultrasound and gas machine.
We are a referral center throughout the country for complex pathologies that may require critical care.
The neonatal unit brings attention to patients under one month of age with complex pathologies, which cannot be resolved in other neonatal units. The care is carried out by a pediatric neonatologist, respiratory therapist and nurses specialized in this type of patient.
We have an interdisciplinary group in which, in addition to providing high-quality care and the latest technology, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support is offered to both patients and their families.
Pediatric surgery
Pediatric surgery is a medical specialty in charge of surgically correcting the conditions that occur in children from birth to age 15 and that affects their organs’ function, growth, and development.
Our team has training and adequate resources to carry out minimally invasive surgeries.

It evaluates patients with hereditary diseases, they are made up of:

Cystic fibrosis group
Evaluates patients diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, seeking a comprehensive treatment.
Nutritional Support Group
It provides services focused on inpatient care, outpatient consultation, specialized nutritional support research, and specialized nutritional support education.
Food allergy clinic
Joint assessment of patients with gastrointestinal allergy by Nutrition, gastroenterology, and allergology.
Information to families
In pediatric units, as part of the education process, there is a fundamental principle: including parents in the care of their children and entail them to have an active participation during their hospitalization process, through a series of care and education guidelines. For this reason, the families’ accompaniment is carried out 24 hours a day, which includes participation in nursing activities that help to prepare parents for post-discharge care, it means, at home.
Education is provided by the physician in charge and/or nursing staff according to the individual needs of each patient. We also provide education on specific topics that apply to all patients such as hands washing, isolation treatment, management of accessories for therapeutic use such as catheters and fall prevention. Within the information provided, there are included topics such as standards established in the unit, medical and nursing round, schedules for medications, evacuation routes, administrative processes, among others.
