What is it?

Nephrology is a medical service responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute or chronic diseases that affect the kidneys. This service seeks to improve the life quality of our patients.

The main functions of the kidneys are:

  1. Filter the blood and extract toxic substances from the body; harmful elements are eliminated through urine, as well as water and excessive mineral salts.
  2. Maintain the internal balance constantly, allowing the proper functioning of all body cells.
  3. Manufacture substances that act as hormones that stimulate the production of red blood cells, regulate blood pressure, and mineralize the skeleton.
